Kawasaki debuted their 4-strokes powered Ninja ZX-RR in MotoGP with some initial difficulties, however, the team persevered and gradually made progress. With the addition of rider Shinya Nakano in 2004, the squad was able to compete with the top clubs for race triumphs. Nakano rode the lime-green, 990cc-engined vehicle to an impressive second-place podium finish at Round 8 in the Netherlands in 2006 for his greatest result of the MotoGP season.
