Rit Dye will work on cotton, linen, silk, wool, ramie, rayon, nylon, wood, wicker, paper, feathers, cork, some plastic and fabric blends that do not contain more than 35% polyester. Does not dye 100% polyester, acetate or acrylic, fiberglass, spandex and metallic fibers as well a items with rubber backings (bath mats or throw rugs). Instead, use Rit DyeMore for Synthetic Fibers. Use Rit with a washing machine, plastic bucket, stainless steel sink or pot.
Rit Colour Stay Dye Fixative boosts colour retention by up to 100% on Rit-dyed fabrics like cotton, linen, rayon, ramie, jute and hemp. For best results, use straight after dyeing before washing. Dye Fixative works for dyeing in machine, sink or pot and can also be sprayed on textiles for crafts or DIY projects. Apply to commercial dyes prior to their first wash, or to hand-dyed pieces before laundering - however, results may not be as strong as when used immediately after dyeing.
